Other Bitting Pests
Mosquitoes:
Bites from mosquitoes can extremely itchy and on occasions transmit diseases. They bite mostly at dusk and during the dawn in summer.
Head, body, and pubic lice:
Bites from head lice usually makes the scalp itch because of the allergens in their saliva. There are generally no symptoms but continual scratching can lead to chafing and bacterial infections which need treating with antibiotics.
Ticks:
These pests use their mouth-parts to piece painlessly into the skin. They can attach to any part of the body, but can be typically found in places like the groin and armpits, ears, waistline and the hairline. Tick must remain attached to their hosts while feeding, unlike bed bugs.
Fleas:
Fleas are jumpers, rather than bed bugs who crawl. They prefer animals to humans, but if their usual food source is unavailable they will turn to human hosts. They bite in places like around the ankles and the marks appear as raised red spots which are itchy which can sometimes be confused with bites from bed bugs
Mites:
Human scabies mites burrow into and feed on the skin which can cause irritation. Characteristically, these pests can be found in skin folds and areas where there is skin damage. The tiny skin lesions can quite easily be confused with the bite of bed bugs. Species of mites which are more typically found on rodents or birds, may bite humans if their principal host vanishes from the nest. They bite both day and night which can be felt. Bird or rodent nests located on or in a dwelling belonging to humans are generally where these infestations are sourced.
Spiders:
Unless a spider is disturbed in its environment, they typically do not bite humans. Spiders bites can happen when people reach for things in places of storage, or basements and if people turn in their sleep onto a spider accidentally.
Carpet Beetle Larvae:
